主要なゲームサイト・メディアの選ぶ2008年度の最優秀ゲーム大賞、Game of the year の発表がほぼ出揃いました。
2008年度の傾向として目立つのはPS3対応ソフトの受賞です。
2007年度のGame of the year(以下GOTY)ではPS3ソフトの受賞はほぼ皆無の状態でしたが、2008年度はPS3独占ソフトの『MGS4』、『LBP』をはじめ、マルチ展開でPS3でも発売された『GTA4』や『Fallout3』も多数受賞、結果として主要なメディアでGOTYを受賞した作品のほとんどがPS3でプレイできるソフト、ということになりました。
その逆に2007年度は『マリギャラ』でGOTYを多数受賞したWiiですが、2008年度は好調な本体・ソフトウェアセールスとは裏腹にWii用ソフトでGOTYを受賞する作品は見当たりませんでした。
